Rob and I got caught up this evening on the latest status of post-production. Some good news to share.
We are a day or so away from a proper edit lock. Which means:
The editing aspect of taking a lot of the 'air' out of scenes that has been trimmed and or cut outright. Which means the over all pace is getting tighter and should flow much better for the final picture locked version.
90% of the visual effects are completed and just need rendered and dropped in. We are expecting this to be done next late next week. If anyone rendered VFX footage, this is the part that takes time. I call this the 'watching paint dry' phase of post.
There are some other smaller areas that will need to be addressed, but while those items need to dealt with at some point, they are not really stopping us from being ready for the Private Screening on May 31st.
The Opener and Credit Roll sections and is ready to be added.
Then after all of that is done, Jason (composer) can finish up the score while I'm working on adjustments of the sound design and mixing. Then after the score is ready, I can do what I'm calling the 'final' mix down. Even though there are a few pieces of sound design that needs to be sorted out, two bits actually. I was planning on getting them sorted out when I'm back in Philadelphia on May 30th. This shouldn't affect the mix down process. Fingers crossed.
THEN, after all of this, we'll be at a point for Rob to start color grading and making whatever tweaks and adjustments so we can do our final review and export, just in time for the event. I cannot wait.
